Someone asked me recently how I make friends when I move to a new place. I guess I’ve had a bit of practice. I started to break down my past experiences into discrete steps and advice, when I realized that I didn’t make friends – friends made me. They taught me about love, culture, language, and what it means to be a human. They showed me that who I have been is not who I am, is not who I will be; and that’s ok. Most important of all, they showed me that the limitations I place on my character are only as limiting as I believe them to be. So to all the travelers, painters, philosophers, and silly hearts of the world, go out and meet the world because the world needs your friendship.
